Loved that movie. It gave my little brother nightmares for months.

Scared Tippi Hedren in making the movie too… the part were she goes in a room full of birds the stage hands were just throwing the birds at her.

shortly after seeing “The Birds” in the 70s, a bird tried to take some of my hair for a nest…at least that is my rationalization, I am sure he was not really attacking me…:P

The Birds. One of my personal favorites, and IMHO, one of the best movies ever.

Not a great movie. The bird attack was never explained and the special effects were often cheesey overlaid images.

If they’d used subtitles we would have known why the birds were angry.

Considering the technology at the time, the Birds was a great achievement. Not having the ending nicely sewed up is part of its mystique.
Nice work C&B, you have really held true to the McNelly formula.

A good Hitchcock movie, but he’s done many better ones. I, too, would have liked an explanation for the bird attacks.

All I can say, it wasn’t a movie I cared to see twice.

The story that “The Birds” came from, by Daphne Du Maurier I think, did not have an explanation for the bird attacks either. I think there was a comment about what caused Nature to act in this fashion but I’m not sure.

@chasm_b
The comment was of course a question and at the end of the story so it was left unanswered.

I’m not a big Hitchcock fan, but my favorite is “Jamaica Inn” with Charles Laughton. Whenever I imitate Laughton’s call for his butler, yelling “CHADWICK!”, my cat Chad comes running!

He never made a bad movie…
