Shows how badly they’re taught in schools these days - the reason gas is so expensive is (a) taxes and (b) market demand. You want cheaper gas? Use less of it and the prices willl tumble!

jgcp1 you make good sense. That’s why it will never happen.

But it should. And soon.

Given Uncle Cosmo’s gas hog, it may never happen.

Well if that’s not what it stands for, that’s what it should stand for.
Skyler, I’d give you part marks.

Actually, that probably is more accurate than the ‘official’ meaning!

Gas prices are about $1.60 less per gallon than a year ago - and falling. Yet we still moan and groan. Well, some of us do…

Once again, the adage proves itself: many are the true words spoken in a jest!

Actually, it’s pretty well established that last year’s gas price run-up had nothing to do with supplies of oil or demand for gasoline; it was almost entirely due to a speculative bubble in the futures market. The typical barrel of oil was “traded” (in the form of futures, options and derivatives) something like 27 times before it was actually pumped from the ground, and at each step one or another big financial firm (can you say “Goldman Sachs”? I knew you could) took a chunk.

The price of oil that is hyped in the news is the spot price. Most of the oil is bought on long term contracts so when the price rises big oil makes huge $$$

Come on, people! Pay attention! As long as I’ve been alive, @ 50 years, gas prices go UP in the Summer and DOWN in the Winter! It’s due to supply and demand! They have the supply, and we demand more as we take summer vacations! If we didn’t desire to travel to the ocean and ogle each other while half -naked (a sin in the Arabs eyes) gas prices would remain relatively stable! Think about this, when you want strawberries in-season, they are relatively cheap. But when you want strawberries out of season, you pay more for them! Your lust for strawberries causes you to pay more to satisfy that lust. Your lust for summer travel causes you to pay more in order to travel! It’s simple supply-side economics!

I don’t think its a problem just in the Arabs eyes……
Your theory breaks down there.
Can you say ‘monopoly’?
jmworacle said, 4 months ago
Not to worry, our benevolent leader will fix it so that the price of fuel is out of the reach everyone but “the elite class”.

Summer time sum sum summertime…..you people should hear the tourons complain when they fill up on the interstate or downtown in this little burgh….I laugh because these people are usually driving large rolling motorhomes.
Defenition : Tour-on n. Cross between a tourist and a moron…most can’t read signs….ONEWAY usually means the traffic flow goes in the direction of the arrow.
