The Kaiser Family Foundation had it that Washington D.C. actually led the nation in firearm-related fatalities during much of the past decade in spite of the fact that the city had essentially banned private firearm ownership. It wasn’t until ca. 2007 or so that Alaska finally topped it.
    []
Makes you wonder how it is that DC had such a high fatality rate when civilians weren’t even supposed to be owning guns in the first place…

Have you ever been to DC? I don’t wonder… Besides, guns are still quite easy to get.

When you prohibit carry permits all you do is take the guns away from the private citizen who would defend themselves or others. The scum do not care about permits and are going to carry anyway and are undoubtedly delighted they now have an unarmed populace of victims to deal with. If guns are banned entirely the country itself will be an easier target in case of foreign invasion and you will merely create the same kind of situation prohibition resulted in. Prohibition drove the market underground and made a wonderful feeding trough for organized crime, helping it get firmly established in this country.

My husband & I have CCW permits and carry when we consider it necessary. I see nothing wrong with it. There are some very nasty people out there and one needs to defend oneself.

This cartoonist clearly lives in his own fantasy world. If he had really been to a state where concealed carry is allowed (dare I day “the norm”), he would know better!

There is absolutely no reason for anyone in a civilized country to carry a gun.

    Therefore, everyone in America should.

    GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION

    NOW!

    .
20 children murdered at their desks! 6 staffers. The murderer, his father, his brother, his mother (one of the 6) and himself!
    .
We are not going to wait one more second! We are going to have this discussion RIGHT finking NOW!
    .
At the end of it there will be less guns! period Exclamation point!
    .
We need to require that all guns and all bullets have RFid tags that will disable the bullet when brought into a public gathering space! (Schools, Malls, Town Halls, Debutante Balls, etc etc etc)
    .
No backing away from it now!
    .
This event is the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of the Gun Control Issue!
    .
If you are not sickened by the tragedy in Connecticut then you should not be allowed to touch a firearm! If you are sickened then you should want to change this twisted and disgusting reality!

The cardinal error is that a gun is a truly lousy defense. It’s of use ONLY as an attack oder counter-attack weapon.

Are there any statistics on the percentage of people who fell victim to weapons when they themselves brought some into the situation compared to that of those who were injured or dead when they where considered unarmed by the culprits?

I bet the first number is higher even when including rape, where the second situation is naturally occuring .

OH DUDE I LOVE this one. You said: “We need to require that all guns and all bullets have RFid tags that will disable the bullet when brought into a public gathering space!”

And so that means that when we send our troops into battle, the enemy – having acquired the tag code – can disarm them . OH right, those bullets won’t have the tag. So what is stopping the rest of us from getting those bullets? All you are doing is creating another black market opportunity for the criminal elemental, further insuring that only criminals and government entities (not much difference in the two) have effective weapons.

But hey your hearts in the right place my brother.

If guns are such a lovely defense against mass murders and so many Americans carry guns, why are your murder rates so high?

Canucky, them’s fighting words… DRAW! Which would be my caption for this cartoon! Imagine an arthritic accountant, with macular degeneration, packing a glock, who has just had a mocha-latte with three extra espresso shots, then a kid’s balloon pops!

Any ideas how to really help? New suggestions, not worn out NRA stuff. Respectfully Ahab.
