I like this … it is delusional. The thought that the economy will not take off because of debt is laughable at best. This country has carried a debt dating back to 1935 in the brief moments Jackson was able to zero it. It has grown and shrank periodically since then but never back to zero. It stayed fairly level though from about ‘49 to ‘80. From ‘80 it has skyrocketed to amazing heights only briefly shrinking from ‘98 to ‘01 and picking back up like it never took that detour. You can find that factual information in the Historical Tables document pages 326 and 327. But it is all Obama’s fault … right?

No, it’s not all Obama’s fault. The pertinent fact is he is doing the exact same thing Regan, Bush, and Bush II have been doing…increasing the debt even more. Worse still, their excuse is “well Bush did it!” Just like some children…continue to take absolutely no responsibility for their own actions and blame someone else.
The ball is in Obama’s court now and what do we find? He’s no better than the others.

DMark: No definitely not all Obama. He is only responsible for the difference between $1.1T and $1.86T. That doesn’t count proposed health care at $1T/10yrs.

church, I don’t think what we are saying is all that different. I will concede that my post was hurried and thus not particularly cogent. However, the point that it’s all about the money is still valid. And the point that there are fewer resources today devoted to actual reporting also still stands.

Bush spent SIX HUNDRED TRILLION on Iraq. When health care reform costs one percent of the Iraq war, call me.

I agree with cabrobst. He’s got it right on.
churchillwasright said, 4 months ago
REKAM: You may agree with CABROBST, but his figure is wrong. It is $600 Million, not Trillion. Still lots of $, but get your figures correct. Especially if your going to PUT IT IN CAPS!
fennec said, 4 months ago
Ermm, church, the figure is $600 billion, not million. Million is 10 to the 6th power, billion is 10 to the 9th power, trillion 10 to the 12th power. So you and cab were both off by three orders of magnitude but in different directions.

This reminds me of that (those) email(s) doing the rounds whereby they claim to be able to resolve the whole financial crisis by giving everyone a million.
All those zeros do peoples’ heads in.
I wonder how the Zimbabweans managed it? (they didn’t)
I loved how Church was brought down a notch while attempting to bring someone else down. Way to go, dude.

OMG! My bad! I was correct when I corrected RKEM on Davies 7/20, but screwed up here! And the fact that I was correcting someone else makes my mistake even worse!

No no no. You’re safe. No hose.
One bare room, locked door and a copy of the federal budget. Nothing else. :)

LOL and a wet blanket ! ! !
The disgruntled look on the pig in the right is very funny.
churchillwasright said, 4 months ago
GLADIUS: If that’s what it takes for someone to read the budget, can we do that to everyone in Congress?
nomad2112 said, 4 months ago
CWR - nice thinking but Congress would never pass it.
