Close! Vancouver, BC – which is probably on par with Portland for coffee shops per square foot!

You must be a very young person to have that list. As someone who has been paying attention to things since the late 60’s, pollution is almost non existant today-don’t recall any rivers catching fire lately, and was in So Cal a few years back after living there in the 70’s and could actually see the mountains, and not the air. Crime way down, due either to abortions (if you beleve freakenomics), concelealed carry or manditory sentencing. Take your pick.
Climate change, that one get you every year, first its nice then too hot then nice then too cold, or are you taling the please throw money at us bogus science the UN is trying to peddle. Because in my northern state the record coldest day and hottest day for yesterday was about five years apart.and just over a decade ago.
And Poverty worldwide does continue, but even then we have more people liveing longer and better over more of the world then ever before and in north america it is for most puposes eradicated.

Maybe you should bring back DDT. Carson lied in that book, and is the cause of thousands of needless deaths each year as a result.

You, sir or madam, are gravely mistaken.
You can craft your own opinion, but you cannot make up your own facts.

While it’s not possible to say storm XXX was caused by warming, I’d like to just point up something here. Warming in the Arctic is real, cause does not matter. The US Navy is very interested in the far North right now, for the exact reason that lack of ice means ships can go there, and that means we’ve suddenly got water routes open between North America and North Europe, IOW Russia. They would NOT have such an interest if the poles were as cold as they have been throughout all historical times – pretty good independant evidence, wouldn’t you say? If you don’t think so, an angry letter to the Sec’y of the Navy is in order, because he’s wasting your tax dollars and lying about patrolling open water when it’s really ice. Get me? NOW, given that either you just quit reading to write that letter, or you gave up and agreed the North Pole is warming up, there are consequences to that warming. The sharp cold/hot air boundary in the Arctic “locks” the jet stream to that boundary. When the boundary gets “fuzzy” the jet stream wanders more. A wandering jet stream means colder air from the North can come South more often. This causes nasty storms as the cold air smacks into the warm air, and this is becoming more and more frequent. Storms damage crops and this means you get hit in the pocketbook for higher food prices. Storms damage power lines, so you get hit for higher power bills. And if one tears the roof off your home or drops a tree on your car, your insurance will go up. Warming in the Arctic will cost you money out of your pocket, directly, and that is exactly why you should be concerned about it.
    NOW DO YOU GET IT?
