Thank goodness for Viagra, or that rhino would have lost that horn long ago.

Shouldn’t he have visited the vet after 4 hours?

Well, let it down: it puts your horn in a good position and your mouth close to the grass.

I went and tried “What is the weight of a rhino’s head?” at ask.com. It said 1000 kilograms, or close to 2000 pounds. Looks like the author did his research! :D

It doesn’t matter — they still do! There was a recent “National Geographic” article about it. Some cultures prefer the organic product. Not that they are the only offenders, but the Chinese are very bad about it.
.
Even rhinos in protected areas are poached. In some parks, the horns are sawed off to remove the temptation.

You know the horns are actually tightly compressed hairs; that’s some serious mousse.

Yes, isn’t it strange what fancies people take, that the horns will cure, among other things, impotence? Must be a sympathetic magic kind of thing — like makes like. Viagara is the aphrodisiac that works, sought for milennia. Take a few cases of that back in time, and you would have wealth and influence beyond compare.
.
It’s a pity that all the large animals, elephants, tigers, rhinos, and bears, for example, will disappear because of superstitious medical beliefs.
.
Where there’s money involved, that’s what will happen. Can you blame poor people for taking advantage? And likely, the people who do the actual killing will get the smallest amount of money.
.
There are cartels for whom poached animal parts are big money. The killings are well planned and executed oftentimes with assault weapons. Many people in power are corrupt, and that’s why it won’t stop.
.
A big thing now is to harvest “Bush Meat,” that is, wild animal flesh instead of slaughtering domesticated animals. Even primates are eaten, which is dangerous because of the potential to pass along diseases.
.
Eventually, everything bigger than mice will pass through human digestive systems. Maybe even cockroaches and ants.
.
Didn’t mean to depress you or to preach. That’s just the way things are probably going to be.
