What’s with all the squirrel hate in this family?

Mine never stick around for anything when they see me. I would rub their adorable little bellies if they posed like that. This one’s even laying on the ice hoping for one.

Be nice to the squirrel! He is just doing what God intended a squirrel to do.

Lets see. They are quite distructive once they get in your house and make a nest! The threat of rabbies and they plant trees where you don’t want Oaks to grow!

If they get into your attic, they will be scrabbling and scratching around all day. If you have cabling in your attic, they will chew through the wires. That can take out your Internet, or even cause a fire depending on which wires were chewed through. I don’t know why they are attracted to wires that way. Maybe the squirrel thinks the insulation feels good to chew on.

If a squirrel acts all friendly towards humans, you should assume it is rabid. They are not even close to domesticated.

I had a pet squirrel when I was young – it was adorable and domesticated.

Maybe “Gentled” would be a better word.
Raccoons and squirrels are not domesticated animals. They can be ‘gentled’, you might even call one ‘tame’.
Not even my gold fish are ‘domisticated’.

Jimbo didn’t say the squirrel was adorable. He said the squirrel was in an adorable pose.

I’ve never seen a live squirrel in that pose. Only dead ones.

The squirrel was in that pose in order to look cute to Rose so that she would give him some cashews. If anyone tried to give a wild squirrel (even one you might be feeding) a belly rub, the squirrel would bit off at least one finger or thumb . . . or both. When they bite they hold on forever, you can not shake them lose. Happen to my friend, Lefty.

Just an FYI, squirrels do not carry rabies. There has never been a case of squirrel to human rabies in the United States ever. Squirrels are a really big part in re-forestation. Man brought squirrels into the city of Philadelphia thinking the citizens would like to see “wildlife”. Squirrels adapt to their environment and will do whatever it takes to survive. Even being the adorable gymnasts that they are.

I came home one day to find a squirrel tail in my dining room. At first, I thought it was a toy, but further inspection proved it to be genuine. I didn’t feel to sorry for the critter, if it didn’t have enough good sense not to come down from the attic into the parts of the house that were inhabited by cats.
