    Happy that she’s gone? Or that she will be back?

    @Al

    Is the corn stalk in place of a pole so the scarecrow can pole dance?

    Although Rose is nice, I think he’s glad she’s gone so he can be himself and have fun.

    When you play “she loves me … she loves me not” with a sheaf of grain the first stalk is always “she loves me!” and wheeeee

    Will she be back with an umbrella and rain coat for the scarecrow?

    According to reports GK, was feverish when he did that famous scene. Also, that was all filmed indoors.

    Thanks, TrapperJohn! I needed an Arlo-and-Janis-type analyst for this one!

    They had to film indoors ’cause God was in the midst of causing a local drought. ;-)

    You’re right, the scarecrow’s moves look like Gene Kelly’s in the movie.

    @Chickweed Fan

    If you follow up on Trapper John’s comment, the scarecrow is singing and dancing in the rain because he’s in love (with Rose?), not happy that she’s gone. That’s what Gene Kelly was doing, until a police officer suddenly appeared and he calmed down….

    One of my favorite dance scenes, or any scences.

    I didn’t hear ‘feverish’, I heard ‘sick as a dog and close to collapse’, but that may be dramatic embellishment.
