a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, lived Rose and her family……..
    that would be the explanation

Rose never seems to have any serious trouble. Great husband with a steady job, angelic kid, nice house, enough money, wonderful friends, mom and neighbors. And yet she is wasting her whole day leaning against a tree. What exactly does she have to ‘let be’ exactly, I wonder? And who takes care of her kid and her chores while she does?

Everyone has problems no matter how good things are. That’s life.

I wondered that myself. Let’s not forget her adorable kitty Peekaboo!

If you’re the type to take comics too literally then you would have to admit that Rose has some pretty serious mental health issues

Her depressions are so severe that she actually has hallucinations that she is in a “Dungeon of Despair” and when she is overwhelmed or irritated another personality (Vickie) takes over

Good for me I am not the type to take comics too literally, so I just laugh at the gags

Her having another personality doesn’t bother me that much about Rose. After all, a lot of women have an altar ego (particularly right before marriage).

@Teresa (from yesterday): What part of the country are you in? I’d like to try putting some spider plant babies outside, but our winters can be pretty cold where I’m located. (east central Wisconsin)

Rose doesn’t spend her whole time leaning against her ‘let things be’ tree, just when she’s stressed out.

Well yes, but this would be more believable and have more to do with the story, if we actually knew what she is stressed about. Almost every day we are shown her pretty much perfect life and then suddenly, blam let things be tree or blam dungeon of despair* for pretty much no reason at all.

Stress doesn’t have to be about anything. I think my own life is just about perfect and no health problems (no meds, and I’m 75) but even with a “perfect” diet -vegetarian, no alcohol, cheese or meat, I can’t get BP readings to stay reliably low. I just have to keep busy DOING stuff all the time.

At least HBP is my only problem, because I refuse to take meds. If I’m going to ingest poison, it has to be one that I enjoy!

Dazz, Love Ya! Stay away from prepared meals & canned sauces. That will help lower salt intake and is good for lower BP. It’s painless & drug free! :-)

High BP is horrid. Ever considered it might not come from stress? In my family it’s totally hereditary. My great-grandmother had it, died of it age 80. My grandfather had it and despite medication had his first heart attack at age 40. After three heart attacks, a triple bypass heart surgery and a shiny new heart valve he died age 69 of (almost) unrelated causes. My mom already had high BP at age 12. Now she’s 46, on medication and thankfully still heart attack free. No kind of diet, stress reduction, meditation etc. ever made a lick of difference for any of them. Their high BP wasn’t caused by stress, they were stressed because of the high BP.

Even if it’s hereditary, I think stress is involved. This isn’t heaven after all. Sometimes we are not aware of what causes the stress. It’s just that hereditary factors make it much more likely, if not inevitable.
