So is this a real thing? Baldo referenced a free comic book day too. I have never been to a comic book store in my life so now I’m curious.

1st Saturday in May in the US. May not apply to other countries. I consider it my personal holiday.

I’m surprised Clem was happy with just ONE free Comic Book!
I would have thought he would insist on 5 or 6 at the least…

A comic book at participating stores (comic shops, of course). Encourages kids to read and get to know the superheroes as well Archie (the perennial teenager) and the less violent ones, while their parents and grandparents get all nostalgic. Also gets people going back into brick and mortar stores: people are likely to buy other related titles, games, coffee mugs, or other theme merchandise.

Very cool. I’ve not heard of this event before, but then again the closest comic book store is probably 100 miles.
    Read away, people, read away!

I never heard of this. My number one comic growing up was Katy Keene. I wonder if she’s still around.

    Comic book. Why? Why not.

    At Otto,
Some storefront entrepreneur dreamed it up and he and wife made some costumes, publicised, and VOILA! A mini Comicon! I don’t go to any although I once participated (with Cuddles) at an SCA demonstration at same venue as a Comicon. I was dressed in my own silk Medieval gown as Lady Beatrice of the Aviary and we had fun! I read some comic books as a kid (Mad Magazine too) and they are still around. Only Cuddles could drag me out to mill around in crowds and she died in 2008
