Less than an hour ago, our Tom Dooley hopped up into my lap, only to change his mind abruptly and with a frightened hiss!
    .
Turns out that there was a ‘mosquito hawk’ in the same space as he wanted to get and he had to change his direction.
    .
Gave me a couple of hefty scratches on my leg. :P
    .
Ah, well, Hydrogen Peroxide dabbed on got the cat-claw germs out and he was led to the back window to ‘become one with the night!’ (It’s one of his 2 exits from the house.)
    .
A mosquito hawk looks like a really really big mosquito but it eats mosquitos.

@Nun'Ya Bidness Never heard of mosquito hawks so I Googled them. If they eat mosquitos, they sound like a good thing to have around. I didn’t realise that they are crane flies, or as we used to call them daddy longlegs. I’ll encourage them this year.

I hope that your scratches heal quickly, I know how painful they can be.

Where I grew up, mosquito hawks were the same as dragon flies, and without them, we would have been overwhelmed by the mosquitoes.
