Rose is Rose presents the extraordinary nature of everyday life as seen through the eyes of the Gumbo family. The strip stars child-at-heart Rose and her ASD (Attentiveness Surplus Disorder) husband Jimbo. Their gentle son Pasquale is watched over by his Guardian Angel who morphs from tiny cherub into gargantuan protector. Family kitten Peekaboo boasts that her humans are the cutest in town. Readers relish the romance in Rose and Jimbo's marriage, yet cheer the emergence of Rose's rebel alter ego, the fearless, wild and ready-to-roll Vicki the Biker

I am feeling very sorry for Jimbo. If you look at yesterday’s strip and today’s strip you can clearly see that Rose is unable or unwilling to communicate clearly with him at all. The poor man has to be on his toes all the time to guess what she wants.

Typical relationship. Man has to mind read, and if he misses one, boy is he screwed. And not in a good way.

I do that for my husband. He moves his shoulders and makes little whimper sounds. I try that and he ignores me. I have to verbally ask his to scratch my back. After 18 years I would hope that he would understand by now. But no. I can rub his back for hours and it never seems to be enough. He goes scratch, scratch for me and is done. Oy! It is so unfair and unbalenced.

Yep. When my husband gets into bed at night after me, he still tries to jerk off my covers so he can have more, after 52 years! I try to hang on and jerk them back. After I complained about it many years ago, he’d helpfully throw the covers my way till they were eventually dragging on the floor on my side, so I gave up. Sometimes you have to pick your battles.

Now don’t try making this a gender issue. There are just as many men who are equally as close-mouthed.

At first I thought she was making an S, and he took offense and punched her.

King size bed. Nice. Better solution: separate beds. Or bedrooms.
And if this is typical marriage where the wife expects hubby to mind read, it’s no wonder guys like me (and millions of others) remain single.
