I thought the birds flew south for the winter in this comic…

Red means that it’s a Cardinal, and they stay all Winter.

I can look out my window almost any time of the day here in Southern Kentucky, even when it’s 18* like it is now, and there are Cardinals hopping around everywhere looking for seeds, or whatever.

Let the incessant pecking on squirrel’s head ensue! The little red bird has a point and needs to apply it liberally and literally upon his ‘roomie’.

The only thing I miss here in Ca. is cardinals. Such pretty birds!

I think that if the bird were a cardinal, it would have a crest on its head. I’ve never seen one without a crest.

I’m sure Rose will help in relocating the squirrel.

This is the little bird that always misses the winter migration and stays behind. Rose and the family knows about it and feeds the bird.

Actually it looks big enough for the 2 of them. Squirrel fur would be cozy.

The bird might end up seeing “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire”.

Yes, she would try to eat both of them.

My understanding is that cardinals, blue jays, and orioles go south after October and don’t return until spring.
