My mom made me a sweater about 3 sizes too large when I went to college. It came in handy, though— I came back at Christmas and I wore it with a lot of things under it when we had a coldsnap of -10 for week during the day and temps as low as -25 at night.
It normally only gets to below zero here for a couple of days at a time during the winter, not for a whole week and during the day the moisture in the air froze. The air itself had tiny little sparkles in the sunlight. I’d never heard of that happening, but it made for a neat effect. I wish I’d had a video camera in 1990.
