‘Correlation does not prove causality.’ Maybe people prone to cancer have an itch (from the cancer cells) that is only relieved by smoking, so the cancer causes the smoking, not the other way around.

To prove causality, one needs a controlled experiment. In mice, selected randomly to smoke or not smoke, the mouse smokers have much more cancer, proving that smoking causes cancer in mice.

But we can’t use that as proof that smoking causes cancer in humans, because ‘Der Mann nicht eine Maus ist!’

(Pity the courts finally decided to ignore all that excellent research by the tobacco companies that proved that smoking does not cause cancer in humans.)

Next up, the guy will be holding up dope and saying it did not make him an idiot.
My sister is a respiratory therapist and just can not wait for the extra business legal pot would bring into her hospital.

It is an addiction and to treat its victims as pariahs with usurious taxation so the rest of us can get off cheap is iniquitous to the least.

Ain’t it amazing that some food additives that MIGHT cause Cancer if you eat 10 pounds of it a day for 10 years get banned, but a KNOWN Carcinogen gets sold by the ton every day, and even gets price supports from the U.S. Government?
Guess it goes to show you what several Billion in lobbying $$ pumped into "Con"gress EVERY YEAR will buy you!
    Thanks, Tobacco Industry.

Do you want to live forever? Shut Up and enjoy life."
I don’t have to huddle out in the weather to get my fix(caffeine), I don’t hack and cough, I can move around with out getting winded. I am enjoying life.

“My wife is an APRN, and she refuses to take on a new patient who smokes tobacco.”

I think that her refusal to take on a new patient who smokes tobacco is a repudiation of part of the Hippocratic Oath.

As for your snide “wishing illness” Oh please. I am am for the legalization it makes it easier to spot the stupid. It also will help in that less will smoke it but more will search for help because it is legal.

That’s illegal. and if it’s true (doubtful) she is a disgusting excuse for a health care provider and should be ashamed of herself,"
Why? Obamacare does not yet make Doctors and Nurses wards of the State. Did he say she would refuse someone help? Nope. She is saying she can not help those who will not help them self. She is in a private practice and does not have to take government money, so she can pick and choice who she deems she can help. She does not want to deal with a smoker and all the complication that come with it, she is allowed. In fact one might say she is losing out on money in that smokers will have more things she could bill for and make more money from them. But she does not want to deal with someone who is stupid enough to slowly kill them self each day with the cancer stick.

I should say more would seek help with pot related complication if they can remember where and when they signed up to get such help.

    @Nantucket19

I have seen conflicting reports. But if it is legal more will seek help with complications. And if you read more you would have found out that short term smoke inhalation is more serious in pot smokers because you breath it in deeper and hold it longer. What you are talking about is the long term. And that is still in debate also and harder to figure in that most who smoke one smoke both.

And your sister is the one wishing for people to have breathing issues. I think that is a horrible thing to say.?
NO, YOU are the one saying that. You are the one with an issue. She was making a strictly statistical remark on the stupidity of man. She would get the more opportunities to help those dopes who smoke dope.

I like brownies myself. Not a smoker. I’m sure your sister is, and will continue to be, very busy with tobacco addicts

There may be LESS pot smoking after the prohibition is lifted…."
I agree. It takes the thrill factor out of the 1st time user. It would also be easier to treat those who are addicted. I have stated many times if it can be grown it should be legalized and taxed to the max. If chemically made then should be decriminalized to the point it is easier to get help then “go after” them.
What is your beef? Both sides of the issue need to get real. It is not some dangerous gate way drug that will suck your brain out. But it not a harmless medicine. It is a subtle mind altering drug that can ruin your life!
