If you want to stop being poor, then stop doing stupid things. YOU are the number one person that is responsible for your place in life. If you want to succeed, then do what successful people do. If you want to be wealthy, then do what the wealthy do. Work 2, 3, or 4 jobs to get through school instead of taking out loans. Go to a state school instead of a private school that costs 10 times more. Don’t get a credit card. Save money. Don’t eat out. I mean having personal wealth is about making the right decisions, no matter what you do, or where you work.

And let’s not forger that people want everything in the first 5-10 years of adulthood that it took their parents 30 or 40 years to get.

And stop listening to these naysayers that are telling you that you cannot do it without the government, or that you will never succeed. They are full of it.

Did you vote for Bill? He’s the one who pushed through the bill that got rid of the Glass ceiling on financial institutions’ profits? And a lot of Obama’s stimulus was tax cuts for the rich, which was certainly a ‘shovel ready’ job, shovelling money to the rich.

Of course, every good Tea type knows that the enlightened policies of W really helped. After all, there wasn’t a single terrorist attack after W became President. The last one was while Clinton was still president in Sept ‘01. And the crash started in ’07 and got really bad in ’08, after Obama was inaugurated.

Of course, I can’t see how anyone can complain about Obama. Since Obama took office the average American’s income is up by more than 10% (of course, the median American’s income is down by about 10%, but remember, your mother always told you to keep off the median).

So three equally great presidents to the objective observer.

(I’m afraid the jury is still out on the ACA. I’m still waiting to see what it really does. Obamabots all report they managed to sign up on the website with no problems and got a huge savings on their healthcare, in spite of low official numbers for those who actually got signed up. In states that expanded Medicaid, those who qualify are 40% -50% of the uninsured, and they say the ACA is great, but they don’t really know if they’ll be able to find any physicians who will treat them. Tea types report they can’t get signed up on the website and the ACA policies cost a lot more for ‘14 than what they had to pay in ’13, but after their lies about Death Panels, $5,000 tax on everyone not signed up before 15 Dec ’13, jail for everyone who can’t pay the $5,000, etc., etc., I’m not altogether sure I believe them.)

Things were fine until Bush and his black twin ruined the economy.

Clinton was a much better president than either one..

It’s good to know, then, that Paris Hilton is a harder worker and better person than you. After all, she’s got more money than you do!

Use of the median rather than the mean always makes me suspicious of the motives of the person using the median. Are they trying to make things look better or worse to their audience and for what reason?

Wow! You actually still believe in the American dream. Sorry that died long ago. You should listen to the real Rich. They don’t believe in working hard. Their whole point is how NOT to pay their fair share; keep as much as you can.

That is the true lie the the conservative believe; that we all make are situation in life. That is utter balderdash. The reality is if you start 2 feet from the finish line in a hundred yard dash you can beat anybody. But it’s even worse in today’s world. The one who have already won keep moving the finish line dragging it behind them so no one else can catch up.
It is this argument that makes it alright for those who believe they made it that they did it ALL on their own. But they didn’t; take a close look at their lives and you will find others who have sacrificed, aided and given a boost up, to these ‘winners’, but are never recognized.
And the final fallacy of these so called winners is this notion a rising tide lifts all boats. There is a limited amount of resources and money so if one person ‘wins’ big then many others had to lose. No matter how hard they work there’s nothing left for them to make.

Yours is the BEST refutation of this fallacy that I have ever read, thank you.
