We should stay out of the civil war in Syria.
We should have stayed out of the civil war in Vietnam.
We should have not invaded Iraq to steal their oil and gas.

NK has ICBM-technology. Not great, but they got a sat into orbit. They are selling to everyone. You want a dictator with Sarin and ICBMs pointing at New York? It’s not longer “their wars”. This is one, small world now…

I agree on all three points. But i say “You (and us, and everybody) should stop a madman from using WMDs, against whomever”. Can we agree on that? Wrote to Chancellor Merkel about this, haven’t heard back yet…

The New York Times has an interesting article today about ‘trust but verify’.

The key point is a link in that article, which is very well worth reading.

In short, it says the anti-al-Assad mercenaries promised a massive chemical attack a week before it took place, one that would force the US to remove the Syrian government and hand Syria over to the mercenaries, all of whom have promised to rid Syria of all infidels.

Since Obama says the US must strongly support those mercenaries, I guess it’s ‘Sorry, Syrian Christians.’

I equate Assad to being the Hitler of this generation. He’s a dangerous madman who won’t hesitate to kill anyone who opposes him in his own country. If we allow his madness to go unchecked we will be very sorry later as his cancer will spread to other countries.

Even if the sound bite you find so wonderful really was…
putting the lame thing in every post ruins any effect it may have had.
    .
The professional trolls pay money for sound bites that stick in the mind, yours was obviously free.

“What happens when no one stops those who use chemical WMDs?
    Everyone uses chemical WMDs.”

I think there’s real concern that giving Assad a pass means future tyrants may be quicker to use their chemical weapons. But Iran & Iraq used chemical weapons back in the 80s. It did not lead to widespread use.

All well worth reading. The most interesting thing, IMO is the Times’ piece was written by Alan Grayson, a liberal Democrat. The Daily Caller piece was written by conservative Kenneth Timmerman, who is known for banging the drum for action against Iran, Assad’s main sponsor.

Comparing Assad to Hitler is ridiculous. Assad is a no-good despot, but he has never been a major threat in the region. His neighbors, Turkey & Jordan could easily oust him from power. They problem is that the killing would continue unabated. Any “liberator” will get the same welcome we got in Iraq.
