Raising taxes should help people get jobs. Right Barry?
Robert Landers said, 5 months ago
@ConserveGov
As the President is not in charge of fiscal policy, then either blaming him or giving credit to him for the fiscal cliff is simply not in the realm of reality. It is the Congress (and especially the House of Representatives}, that is supposed to determine such policy. And as the latest pols show even more Americans than re-elected President Obama are going to blame the Republican majority in the House of Representatives for going over the fiscal cliff.
However, I must admit that from past experiences it is improbable that such memories of the American people will last until the elections of 2014.

You are right, and I would like to add that it’s not “raising taxes”, it’s “letting unsustainable tax cuts expire”. Bush cut the taxes because there was an “unnecessary surplus”. That was stupid, he could have paid off the debt back then or use the money to invest in education, infrastructure etc. Then he had two wars financed on credit and kept off the books. Oh and Medicare part D as well. That all took care of any surplus in a hurry!
-
Now the U.S. needs to get back to higher taxes, and I’d say for everyone, sorry middle class. I’d even say the taxes have to be raised even more than will happen on January 1st. That, or you could cut down your military which is bigger (in dollars to contractors!) than the next 16 nations combined.
-
BTW: same with health care, the USA always pays the highest price for the smallest result. Only your sheer size allowed you to be so wasteful and inefficient, in peace and war. That has to end, then the taxes can go down again. But nobody is interested in efficiency because everybody is skimming a bit of cream off the top from all the waste, fraud and abuse that is codified into your laws, regulations and even everyday customs (throwing away food for example)…

The government taking money from people who are behind on their bills making it harder for them to pay is O’s dream.

Way to go. Misery wants company, right? What country are you from? How will stealing from the rich in America make your life any better?

Maybe it because your poitn of view larely aligns with mine, but I enjoy reading your posts. I apologize for the members who are attacking you. I trust you are wise enough to realize that it is simply because you are making sense and it doesn’t align with their party’s demands. Since they have no foundation from which to refute your points they simply attack you. But too please keep in mind which members are attacking you, the level of intelligence, though or integrity that is in most of their posts. Now if it were someone like mikefive then there would be a reason to stop and reconsider (but not necessarily change) your position. If mikefive were to argue with your position you could rest assured too that he would not be so vile as these other members.
So to our friend from Deutschland, thank you for your thoughtful posts and for offering your detached outside assessment of our country. It may not be confortable at times, but objectivity is sometimes a very good thing.

So, what exactly IS Obama’s job? To incite fear and dread? Did we elect him for that? Really?

It’s pathetic what the irresponsible politicians are doing, or NOT doing, to destroy the nation they swore to protect.

Flag exhortations to kill minorities, not mindless drool.
.
A lttle drool on a rag buffs up a pair of jackboots really fine. So a little spills on their keyboard, its the price to be paid for shiny.
