Quite right. We need a pro in the White House: another LBJ who immediately made an appropriate response when the Vietnamese made an unprovoked attack on the US Navy in the Gulf of Tonkin, or another Bush, jr who knew that Saddam had a nuclear arsenal less than a day from completion and so had to send in the US military without any armour. ( A comment made here on gocomics a few days ago by a US soldier who was in Iraq proved that Bush, jr did the right thing, since the commentator saw the nuclear missiles pointed at the US for himself or herself, a fact covered up by the MSM, possibly because Bush, jr had the decency to declare it Top Secret out of his great sense of meekness and humility.)

Let’s hope we get someone just as good as those two on 20 January 2017.

Are we to assume Ariail wants us to send troops to Ukraine to confront the Russian army?

@Jase99: why is it that you don’t see any possible action short of going to war. You want to do nothing, which is what created WWII and WWII. we can not simply ignore Europe and hope for the best.

If imposing sanctions make Obama incompetent and ineffectual, and Republicans aren’t calling for US troops in Ukraine, just what the #$%^ do Republicans want to do about it?

This commentator is disappointed that Halliburton senior executives will get only a moderately obscene bonus this year and there are no Americans dying in the Ukraine? Plus Western Europe has a continuing supply of natural gas and the time to obtain a more secure route?

Sure you can! Go on, give ignoring Europe a go; let them sort it out. Make China your largest trading partner instead; Europeans are a snooty bunch anyhoo.

but I fear the temptation will be too great, you’ll wanna meddle. ANd their market. And well, so long as it’s your tax dollars paying for it…go on right ahead! We’ll watch from the sidelines, drinking our espressos and tut-tuting as usual.

You Neocons have never met a war you didn’t like — as long as you don’t have to fight it.

It is true that more than 4,000 brave Americans gave their lives to stop Saddam from launching a nuclear holocaust at the US. I quoted a comment here on gocomics by someone who wrote that he or she was a soldier in Iraq who saw for himself or herself the vast nuclear arsenal pointed at the US, and I believe commentators here on gocomics more than I believe the lying Obama who tried to deny that he was responsible for the financial crisis of 2008 and tried to blame Bush, jr.

Obama was elected in 2008, so he was clearly responsible for the financial crisis. Obama just can’t take responsibility for the horrible things he did as the US president in 2008 that crashed the US economy.

Our sanctions against Russia are mostly a token gesture, because we don’t do much trade with Russia.

The obvious solution is to threaten Germany with an invasion if Merkel doesn’t lead Europe on more effective sanctions. /sarcasm

Never said I wanted a war… If we didn’t have such a weak kneed buffoon as POTUS, Putin might not have had the gumption to try what he has already done…

" If we didn’t have such a weak kneed buffoon as POTUS, Putin might not have had the gumption to try what he has already done…"

You’re referring to Putin’s invasion of Georgia?

Unless we want to put boots on the ground or convince Western Europe to throw their economy down the toilet, there ain’t much to be done for Ukraine.
