As an NYC resident and voter, I am still disgusted by Spitzer and Weiner. I hope they get trounced in the primaries.

“Like you tolerate and forgive conservatives, Snare?”I personally don’t care what conservatives do in their bedrooms so long as their partners are consenting adults. My issue is the hypocrisy of condemning Democrats for their infidelities under the guise of “faith and values” while ignoring or forgiving Republicans for theirs. If Sanford can be forgiven by the voters, so can Weiner and Spitzer.

Corrections: minor but still they exist.

Foley resigned to avoid prosecution. Congresspeople can do that.

Don’t forget Senator Ensign, who tried to pay off the family of his mistress by employing them and giving them “gifts” of a total of $96,000.

Sanford ran against Nancy Pelosi; he mostly ignored his opponent. This is good enough for any Republican from South Carolina.

Gingrich was removed from his post of Speaker of the House by his party. He remained in office until the people of Georgia voted him out.

Senator Vitter is still in office.

But this is all a matter of degree. The point here is that scum does not respect party affiliation. And if you brand yourself as the party of high moral values, or run on that platform, you should fall harder than someone who doesn’t claim to be what he/she isn’t.

The previous comments cover anything I might say so I’ll just defend the Appalachian trail. My wife and I drove to Front Royal and had a wonderful breakfast at the Knotty Pine right off of I-66, took a brief dip into the Shenandoah River at Shenandoah River State Park, and then drove along skyline drive the rest of the day until we reached I-64. Stopped at many overlooks and had a great dinner and view at Skyland. We have too many people elected to office that make us feel bad about our nation and sometimes even our neighbors, but the Appalachian trail is a true gift to our people and our heritage. Respectfully,C.
