^with an aside to “color” as an issue: With pigments, black is the presence of all colors, and white is the absence of all colors. With light, white is the presence of all colors, and the absence of all color is black
On a day when everyone waves the red, white, and blue, it should be noted that white light represents hope and life. Red OR Blue pigments alone leave us with less of a spectrum. “Red Blooded”, or “blue blooded” Americans also raise images of division, radical orientation or privilege, and types that don’t mix.
We’d all do better shedding light on all issues, rather than painting a picture with darkness to hide reality.
