Mr. Ebert was an atheist, so instead of honoring him, the cartoonist is insulting him.

ridiculous, in fact it is even more of an honor, in this cartoon the fact Mr. Ebert was an atheist is immaterial to God he none the less accepts him for the good man he was, this is what God’s grace is truly about and is a commentary on Mr. Ebert as a man not his religious beliefs.

When famous people die, political cartoonists say “YES!” then take half the day off before scribbling together the usual gates of heaven garbage.

And, as you said Molon, you are an orthodox Christian, and are entitled to your beliefs. I choose to believe there is more to the afterlife than the Bible, the Koran, or any other religious text proposes. It may be sacrilege in your eyes, but Godspeed Mr. Ebert!

While I am more agreement with what was posted by Molon Labe, I must applaud edinbaltimore. Sir I do appreaciate your ability to disagree with Orthodox Christianity without being disagreeable.
We all must realize that what is sacred to one is sacrilege to another. It is possible to agree to disagree and still discuss a topic in an intelligent and civil manner.
