He is such a jerk. I cannot imagine any sane people voting for him…

Nooooo. You know, it’s OKAY if a Republican does it.

Well, now he’s running against Stephen Colbert’s sister. It will be an interesting campaign…

He still has to win a runoff while Elizabeth Colbert-Busch won her primary in a landslide.

Mark Sanford has no shame and the republican party has no morals, then again South Carolina is the most despicable backwards state in the Union.

@Omnius
JFK, Clinton, Edwards, Jesse Jackson, Barney Frank, Gary Hart, Eliot Spitzer, James McGreevey, GAry Condit, Tim Mahoney, G. Cisneros, Mel Reynolds. To name a few democrates that had affairs while in office. That last one Mel? He was convicted of sexual assault against a 16 year old girl and sent to jail for 5 years. Clinton pardoned him.
Do you really want to have this conversation? Your position is that republicans are “bad” but democrats are pure as the driven snow?

Please note TimeWeaver’s response. Personal extramarital affairs are best considered only by the persons involved. It is none of our business, and certainly not an impeachable offense.
UNLESS it interferes with one’s ability to perform in office. Mr. Sanford lied about not only where he went, but what hemisphere he was in. (And he didn’t even do that until after he returned.) He has a duty to the people of South Carolina to act as governor when he’s governor. If there is an immediate grave matter that has to be attended to and his office knows how to get hold of him, that’s one thing. If not, no one knows how to proceed, The state constitution will provide for when the governor is unable to perform his duties, but this assumes that the inability is verifiable both in terms of ability and how long the inability will exist. When no one knows if he’ll show up at the door in 5 minutes or won’t call again for a year, there’s more at stake.
To put it another way, if you need to be away from work, you are expected to give a reason and contact information. If you just decide not to show up without any notice, don’t expect to have your job when you return.

“I don’t mind that he had an affair, most male politicians do. What bothers me is that he abandoned his post. Nobody knew where he was for 3 days.
By the way, the two pigs following him, is that the press?"
-
Those are campaign contributors, hoping to get tax breaks or other political favors, should Sanford win.

Mhic: I fry enough brain cells just trying to not punch through the keyboard on posts, but thanks. I’ll try it when it’s a little less stressful.

So good points all. Now you’re going to tell me that not a single one of the people I gave ever left work early, was out of touch for any length of time and so on. Whatever Dude.
Yep, the man took some time off. Too bad he wasn’t on the golf course. Am I really that bad at getting my point across? Said point being elicit affairs and stolen days are the benefit of all people in powerful position. Some just get caught.
Strange that I agree with your last statement.
