Computer hackers got into the South Carolina’s computer system and stole data off of tax returns. Apparently now they have decided it’s necessary to update their computer systems, of course after the fact…

Their IT division (if they have one) has probably been telling them this for years. IT generally tends to be the most starved department.

Yep. It all started when IT became a “cost center”, then a “profit center” (with negative profit), then outsourcing, re-insourcing, constant restructuring and so on. I basically lost faith in management when every user that we did support for had to open a “business case” to get his problem solved. We got “business cases” written in pencil because the people had a broken keyboard, monitor, printer etc. and couldn’t write/print anything…
