Makes as much sense as O winning it in 09. What a joke.

^ When you make your fortune, you can create your own peace prize and award it to whatever sleaze bag warmonger you like.

Please enrol in a remedial reading class. It would do you a world of good.
Olfart said ConserveGov could award his (or her) own peace prize to a sleazebag, he never called ConserveGov a sleazebag.
Nor did Olfart say that the Norwegians have awarded the prize to sleazebags, only that, if ConserveGov had his (or her) own peace prize, he (or she) could award it to a sleazebag.

I always thought it was ironic that the “Peace Prize” was created by, and named for the man who invented Dynamite!
Kind of like awarding the “Edsel Award for Outstanding Automotive Design”!

I was not “implying” a d***ed thing. I stated (quite clearly, I thought) that when conservegov awards his prize he can do as he wishes. In the meantime it is not his place to snivel about the Nobel committee, who are actually making an effort to improve the world.

We understood fine, it is just fools and idiots trying to change the meaning for their own stupid reasons.

Barack Obama hmself was surprised and not entirely grateful for recieving the award when he did. According to wikipedia he donated it to charity. Fisher House Foundation received $250,000, and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund which received $200,000. Eight organizations which support education also received a donation. $125,000 was donated to the College Summit, the Posse Foundation, the United Negro College Fund, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation, and the American Indian College Fund. $100,000 was donated to Africare, and the Central Asia Institute.
While he would agree he had not earned the prize, he did use the money in good ways.
Respectfully,
C.

Thanks for sharing the facts.

I wonder if mittens would have sent it overseas… to his Swiss Account, or the the Caymans?

The trolls be trolling.
I understood and appreciate your first comment, and your second. I agree, if he wants to create and award his own prize, go for it and stop complaining about what the Nobel Committee chose to do. That was their mission, not his./hers or its.

Yes, but, that price is more than money. It’s supposed to be about people who bring peace to the world. Back in 09 the President hadn’t done that, only said what he intended to do (nuclear disarmament), so in a way it cheapened
the meaning, the intention by Alfred Nobel for that price.
-
On the other hand I can’t remember anybody ever
refusing that price on the grounds of “I haven’t deserved it YET”. Maybe it encouraged him with the START-2 negotiations with Russia, who knows? Anyway, he was the first U.S. President who clearly stated – on the campaign trail – that he wanted to get rid of these terrible weapons and maybe that was good enough for Oslo…
-
BTW: Please watch “Countdown to Zero” if you can, a real eye-opener,, but have some Valium ready in case you can’t sleep afterwards!

More like the last steps. Yasser Arafat got a Pieace Prize. They jumped 26 busloads of sharks with that one. Everything else has been circling the drain.
