This great cartoon says everything about why the UN is so ineffective.

The U.N. has, and still does, accomplish a LOT around the world, but the “anti-U.N. crowd” in the U.S. only picks up on the most difficult, or impossible, situations to use as an argument against the organization, and efforts at peace, that take profits away from the war machine. Too bad they can’t stop the trade in small arms, and recycled weapons, like armed helicopters, from places like Russia, U.S., China, and that major supplier, Israel.

You really have no idea what the UN does. Go look up UNESCO, the FAO and the IAEA and get back to us.

—and a bad pun too. However, I think they do some good by getting countries to the negotiating table rather than at war! It’s tyrants like Assad who give the UN a bad name!

GWB was always keen to point out that his invasion of Iraq was covered by a U.N. resolution.About the only time you Americans accept the U.N. – when they back up your wars! Any other time its “wasteful burocrats”, “socialists” and the like, combined with “let’s starve them to death”…

I’m confused. Those two expressions appear to be completely different.
