    That is quite a cruel and unusual punishment in Aztecalandia.

    I speak from experience, chili peppers in your eyes are nothing to laugh about…

    No wonder the Aztecs are extinct …

    Yeah it burns, but they also sacrificed humans! Which sounds a bit more extreme!

    Fortunately the Spaniards conquered the Aztecs and showed them civilized religion; they didn’t sacrifice humans to their God, they only burned them at the stake for heresy

    Actually, I should have said ‘religions’ (plural, not singular), because there are so many to choose from. The only requirement is that you must firmly believe that your god is the only true god. Then you’re good to go. Good luck!

    Oh, I forgot — You also must spend the rest of your life trying to convert all the worshipers of other gods to accept YOUR god.

    of course, after cleaning and slicing jalapenos, remember to double wash your hands before you PEE… That burning sensation is “difficult” to get rid of.

    @goweeder

    Actually there have been plenty of religions that had multiple gods, so that isn’t a requirement.
    All you really need is the belief that you know what is right for everyone in the world, and that they don’t.

    Not just that you know what is right, and they better do it your way OR ELSE!

    No wonder “wear gloves while handling” is good advice in cookbooks with recipes using serrano chili peppers; your mucus membranes will burn from being touched by ungloved hands that cut the serrano peppers open, then sliced them.

    I wonder if Ludwig van Beethoven deliberately looked scruffy, so that he wouldn’t be recognized;Georg Frederic Handel wore dark glasses so that people wouldn’t recognize the Celebrated Saxon in their midst.

    Aztecs knew how to properly discipline their unruly kids. “That will teach you to hit your mother!”
