And WHY was Mr. McQueen turned down from each of those said movies?

    @TEMPLO S.U.D.

It isn’t that he was turned down for the roles, it is that he turned down those roles. He could have thought a different movie was better, he was already filming a different movie when the offer came up, committed to another movie, etc. There are all sorts of reasons why an actor would pass up a script.

Kurt Russel turned down a chance to star as Flash Gordon in the Dino De Laurentiis production… wonder how he would have done with that role.

Turned down Butch and Sundance because he wanted top billing over Newman. Turned out for the better I think.

    1. Lightning is required to make plants grow, it needs to strike the ground.
    2. I was talking to a guy that works on a slaughter floor, he/the company said it take 650 litres of water to make each hamburger. That was from the birth of the calf to the kill floor, which uses and reuses a lot of water for rinsing and waste.
    3. No Steve McQueen input today.

I find it hard to believe that anyone is eating hamburgers at this hour when all restaurants in the us are serving breakfast.

Anybody remember that old book, “How to Lie with Statistics?”

Yeah yeah… Americans eat about 5 billion burgers a year…
there are a little over 500,000 minutes in a year…
    ergo…
Americans eat, on average, a little under 100,000 burgers a minute.

    True,

But THIS minute? It’s 3:15 AM in California, 6:15 AM in New York.

I would bet decent money that 95,000 burgers will NOT be consumed in the next 60 seconds in the US… not even including Hawaii, where it’s earlier.

And far MORE than 95,000 will be consumed every minute between 5 and 8 pm in each time zone.

This is like saying YOU eat three burgers a week just because that’s the average.

Watch out for writers pushing assumptions about “every” based on “average”.

A dream 4U — you wrote that when I was typing about it too….
and I’d bet more restaurants are closed than open when it’s not even 5am in half the country..

I’d rather have seen Kurt Russell than Kevin Costner in the remake of Robin Hood. Russell used to be a pro baseball player and probably still pretty athletic at the time while Costner’s picture could be placed in Webster’s next to the definition of “laconic”…Kevin plays one kind of role well but it’s the only kind he can play. He lacks range.

Why is McQueen thinking of how often lighting strikes Earth every minute?

Steve McQueen also turned donw “Close encounter of the Third Kind” which was tailor-made for him by Spielberg…

He turned it down because the character had to cry in front of his children and McQueen did not want to cry on screen.
