    They shaved their heads to control lice. A wig was easier to delouse.

    Never. In England judges and barristers still wear wigs in court. In the USA vain bald guys wear cheesy looking toupees.

    I’m guessing that designer’s dumpster apartment is just an art project and he actually has a more conventional home. After all, would you hire a designer who lives in a dumpster?

    Those perukes and periwigs were signs of office and of wealth. Though not everyone wore them, especially in the colonies.
