It would have been a greater feat if former Chicago White Sox third baseman Bill Melton had tried for the ball Zack Hample caught – twice in his career Bill was carried off the field with a concussion after misjudging a pop foul ball. That would have been death-defying!

Catching a ball doing 95 mph is a daily occurrence in Major League Baseball. However, the person doing the catching is about 70 feet from the person with the ball. It’s 60’ 6" from the pitching rubber to the plate.
