    Most of the ships lost at Pearl Harbour were recovered. Had the Japanese sunk them at sea, they would have been permanently lost.

    The US fired the first shots at Pearl Harbor, when the USS Wade fired on what turned out to be a two-man midget submarine, while on patrol. Too bad nobody paid attention.

    That ship was the USS Ward, not Wade. She was later sunk in the Solomons, IIRC.

    Nice pun, if it were true. Although this particular James Stewart was the first Earl of the present line, there were earls in Moray before then. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_of_Moray
