They mentioned that DNA thing on NOVA last week. Though judging by the people you can see at WALMART, 2.5% is a very low estimate.

The New Zealand Lesser Short – Tailed Bat only bites Europeans and Asians playing the Subcontrabass saxophone. :)

Of course, the (insert despised group here) contain more than 90% Neanderthal DNA.
(From what I understand … that may not be such a bad thing.)

It’s bad enough to be a bat but it’s worse to be a lesser bat with a short tail and stuck on the ground.

If that is so then African Americans and other races would contain MORE THAN 2.5% NEANDERTHAL DNA!

So remember not to say that you share 50% of your genes with your siblings.

Actually, according to the Nova episode that Simpsonfan mentioned, Homo Sapiens spread out from Africa and cross-bred with Neanderthal. People of African descent have less than the 2.5 average for Europeans.

Neanderthals are considered smart, stronger than we are and they seemed to be hard pressed to adapt to new conditions. Their conservativeness outlook may have condemned them to extinction.

There is only one “race” the human race. There are many subgroups that continually mix producing many mega-mixes as time goes on. Keeps us strong as a race.
