Ripley's Believe It or Not has been presenting the incredible and the unusual in illustrated form since Robert Ripley's first "Champs and Chumps" comic published on Dec. 19, 1918. Currently, B.I.O.N. is illustrated by John Graziano, who has been working as an artist and illustrator since 1983, when he received a certificate in illustration from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. He has designed trading card sets and a portrait series based on the 1960s cult TV show "Dark Shadows." John has also created comic strips for "Scream Queens" magazine, designed t-shirts graphics and created storyboards and concept drawings for Hollywood films. Researcher Lucas Stram has worked since 2004 as the voice behind the cartoon, reviewing potential stories, filtering through the hundreds of weekly submissions and putting together the stories for John to bring to life. New submissions are always welcome. Just click here.

I heard that some of tortis when found. Had some musket rounds that were from the 1800’s during war.

You can find those same glass beads in places where nuclear bombs have exploded.

When Lonesome George died, he was only a shell of his former self!

No mention of how long his grandfather had been dead, but if the truth were known, the car was probably driven and the oil was changed regularly while he was alive. Also there’s no mention of how much work and expense went into making it driveable again. I’m sure he didn’t just turn the key and press the starter pedal to start it.

Last I heard, researchers thought they’d underestimated George’s age. They tend to live considerably longer.

I hope they changed the oil and the transmission fluid before they started the car.

According to the cartoon, the car had been sitting since 1952. That’s still saying that the car hadn’t been driven in 60 years. The grades of motor oil that were available in 1952 wouldn’t be acceptable in today’s lawn mowers.

True, about the oil from that era. What gets me is that Valvoline oil is guaranteed for use in vehicles for 150,000 miles, but yet they want to push their more expensive “high-mileage”oil on you once your vehicle gets 75,000 miles. Who to believe? Them, or them…..

Did the astronauts bring any of those sandy beads to earth to be examined? How can anyone leave a car alone since 1928? Aren’t there still gigantic tortises living on other islands?

He tortoise a lot.
