It’s tough to follow obscure cultural references without a search engine and Wikipedia.
However, these really aren’t that obscure.

I didn’t require Wikipedia to get references in today’s strip. Granted, I have extensive knowledge of comic books and animation. Further, I’ve seen “Jeremiah Johnson”. Long movie.

Never liked the Super Friends. Did like the Batman, Superman, and Justice League toons starting in the early 1990’s. Now those were and are still very good.

Oh and some of the reports of hairy humanoids between 7’ and 10’ tall have been known to show super human strength. Tearing tongues out of cattle! Even carrying of people in their arms like they are children.

Incidently, Google Skunk Ape or "Muddy Boggy Monster* for some Colourful Local (to me anyway…) Lore. And, if you ask VERY Nicely, and IF I’m REALLY [mellow] at the time I MIGHT even relate the Tale of “Just WHY I won’t go Camping in southeastern Oklahoma any longer…”

Don’t you just love search engines so you can in a few minutes know who Solomon Grundy is?
