    Looks like Rover took the water with him…Oh well…can’t stop what’s coming, Red…One good thing, you will see your friends again…The way I got through school was Recess, Lunch break ( I walked home )…then another Recess…then the bell to go home…Everything else was a blur…

    What beautiful autumnal coloring! Meteorological autumn starts on Monday, so it’s all the more appropriate!

    The library helped me survive high school.

    @catfeet

    You taught me a new phrase. I had never heard “meteorological (season)” used to describe the seasons according to months of the calendar as opposed to “astronomical (season)” to describe the exact solstices and equinoxes. I knew the second term from before, but not this new one.

    I thought Rover is a dog! Apparently he morphed into quite a different creature…

    On Adam @ Home, Brian Basset did a similar joke with absorbent diapers.

    The way Rover shakes off the water is so cute!

    Yes, catfeet must be, know, or watch a good weather person. They use that term. Funny that their term is the more intuitive and the astronomical one is the one we have to learn. But then, winter “starts” when the first snow falls and the coats and snow moving equipment come out, so I guess there are the “household” seasons, too. ;-)

    You apparently never have lived with a dog. I don’t know where they put it, but when they shake it seems like they’re CREATING water!

    That shadow in the last panel and its first inset….symbol of approaching autumn? Very, very wistful. You, Red and Rover really get me, Brian B!

    I remember when school started on the Tuesday after the first Monday in September (Labor Day). Then, before I got out of high school, they started school the week before Labor Day, Now it’s the week before that!

    @belgarathmth, and @dogday88, I learned my weather-related factoids by listening to Tom Skilling on WGN!
