Gosh, Rover, you’re supposed to be sympathetic! Poor Red Really looks sick! Maybe Rover doesn’t understand how sick his Red is… ;)

He’d have to be sick to be watching General Hospital while Dialing for Dollars is on.

I’d always try to get some shut-eye when the soaps came on.

I see the tissue wads are now missing in panel 4. I hope he didn’t just snort them!

I’ve been to the emergency room to get a bead out of my sons ear before, (He was 3 at the time). Of course this happens while we were on vacation. On the drive from NC to TN he kept saying “daddy I have a ball in my ear” I said son you cant put a ball in your ear?!? That night before bed he kept saying I have a ball in my ear. So I took a flash light and sure enough there was a “ball/pearl” in his ear. Strange enough they have a special device at the hospital ER call the ball in my ear removal tool. It was out in less that 5 min. The doctor said it was his third procedure that week.

There is no moral to this story. Have a wonderful day and look for balls in your kids ears!

Not only the lampshade. It’s the whole lamp.

Daytime over-the-air TV is awful, now and when this strip took place. When I was home from school on weekdays I wound up watching instructional TV on PBS because it was better than anything else on at the time.

Thanks for the story. It doesn’t need a moral; it fits in very well with the spirit of Red and Rover.

When I was 12 or so(1967, yeah, so what?) I was laid up for 3 or 4 months. No cable, no remote control back then. Mom turned the TV on to Channel 4, and there it stayed until she came home from work at 3 PM. BBC.

I remember mornings were game shows, Jeopardy was at 11. Then the soaps. I got hooked on them, because the girls were so DAMN beautiful. Deidre Hall is still my dream girl.

I remember some cartoons were on, or some silly clown type people thinking they were funny….There were some good ones…My favorite was Capt. Jet…he got kicked off for swearing…loved him…When a friend of mine would see him in their church, she’d always go ZOOOOOMMM…oh well, ya hadta be there…
