    Males are more colorful so every Lassie was male. Shelties are really beautiful smaller collies.

    Not so much colorful. The female coat changes as the seasons come and go. The males not so much. So they used Males because they could shot scenes anytime of the year and the dog always looks the same coat wize. At least that’s what I understand.
