That only benefits you and perhaps a handful of people at the restaurant, Red. Then there would be others who would be PO’d that you took their table. You wouldn’t be the only person who gets cranky without food.

Richard Attenborough (later Sir Richard) as Sir Charles Swann in “Brannigan”: “I only use the ‘Sir’ for theatre tickets and table reservations.”

I wanted to be an astronaut at his age at that time. Dreamed of dinosaurs and space ships to the planets. Sadly neither really happened. Our space development was stalled for so very long by that side trip to the moon, only to show up the Russians.

If you want something lighter, faster, smaller, more efficient, then sent it to NASA. At the fortune it takes to send it to space they will find a way. Less than a decade of them using an IC chip in the Apollo navigation computer there were calculators on students desk. NASA is an investment, if only the bean counters would realize. Think what they have been doing with solar technology.

I give my name as “Brando” at Italian restaurants. Seems to expedite the seating process, somehow.
