When I used to watch TV, I would do that on a nice summer day. I would open the window and plant my chair on my deck facing the TV. I could sit outside and watch my programs with no problem at all.

Wait, didn’t I just see this as a one panel strip several days ago?

Yes, this past Monday, I believed.

Yes, but they weren’t told to go outside and the single panel strip had the TV outside too. Star Trek was also on the tube too. And still I question why they were watching Star Trek. It was not in reruns during the period in history and I doubt mom would wait until 8 o’clock at night to send them outside.

Isn’t Star Trek always on the tube?

Not in the ‘60’s. Only in prime-time. I know. I’m too picky about the details.

Perhaps Brian Bassett uses the Enterprise silhouette because it’s recognizable at that small size and helps set the time era of the strip?

I remember that episode. There was a space-time anomoly (there’s always SOME kind of anomoly) which caused the episode to be broadcast at 4pm, rather than its usual evening slot. This was resolved by Scotty adjusting the phase array at Desilu Studios and bypassing the main program emiters at CBS. This was also the same episode where That Girl Marlo Thomas appeared as a Yoeman and fell in love with Spock. Nurse Chapel transported her into space and claimed it was a ‘medical procedure’.

Dypak, you want to stick with that story? Funny stuff. You should write fiction.

In the ’70s, Star Trek was on in reruns. I used to watch it every day after school.

In Detroit, back inthe 70’s Lost in Space was on at 5 and Star Trek at 7. Great stuff.

I think my idea for how Pug got off the island over in “Brenda Starr” was better BC13.

Props to Basset for making ST a central theme in the strip.

This strip takes me back to the 50’s and 60’s with a lot of great memories. I just wish there were more strips like this one.
