    “Random Nancy” was actually created by Princess Sparkle Pony for his excellent blog. This Guy Gilchrist person, who ripped off the idea, ruins these panels by adding bendé dots and color to a B&W panel.

    Though the mantle of Nancy has been passed down over the years, Ernie Bushmiller created Nancy and drew her for decades. Though I enjoy this new collection of classic Nancy moments, I think it’s a shame that Bushmiller’s genius isn’t given credit here. First, it’s the right thing to do. In this age of “reblogging,” a lot of today’s artists are already getting ripped off by seeing their work reproduced without credit—why reinforce and legitimize that trend here? Second, knowing Bushmiller’s name would allow new Nancy fans to look into Nancy’s history; Fantagraphics has several volumes of classic Nancy strips out already, with a new one coming in the fall. Giving credit to the pre-Gilchrist Nancy artists would help new fans discover more and enjoy more Nancy.

    First, I agree with Espy. Second, seeing the color panels enlarged does wierd things to my eyes. Just saying

    Nancy just told Aunt Fritzi that she was going to marry Phil in a few years. She saw it in a dream. Would these old strips look better in their original size, or would they be too small?

    We credit Ernie in our description of the panel. This Gilchrist person has been working “with” Ernie and his icons for 20 years and is very blessed! Glad to be bringing Nancy to you in two ways now!

    @espy

    espy, you’re correct. We will be crediting the artist in each panel below the panel each day. It will take a couple days to implement. However, we acknowledge Ernie in our description of the panel itself. As the “Guy” who has carried the torch the last twenty years, there is no one more in awe of Ernie.

    Thank you! Bringing Ernie’s art back in a way that hopefully it can be enjoyed by not only the purist but the casual fan or brand new fan is a passion of mine. We will keep tweaking this and working on this. We love Nancy! and we hope you will too!

    Are they all just one panel? Too bad you can’t remove the color or find the original B/W. It is nice to see just distracting at being too large for the color dots.

    Guy, since you’re bringing these strips back from the 50’s, is there any chance of bringing back the ones from the 30’s? You could put them on as “Nancy Rewind”. That way, they’d be right under the current Nancy strips.

    I think it’s great fun. Reminds me of my childhood and also of the strip “Zippy the Pinhead.”
