“… while breaking dorm rules by lighting incense….”

So you’ve seen their dorm residents’ guide? Wow, please post a transcript!

I dunno, could “It’s 30 degrees out” have anything to do with it?

Alternately, he’s been kicked in the head by Cow too many times.

What skills will they bring? None that we know of. How will they survive? Only thing I can think of is by the good graces of the people they’re “helping” — adding two mouths to feed and providing, at most, unskilled labor. The clinic isn’t going to feed and house them, because professional clinics don’t just take in strange people and put them to work. The volunteer system is highly organized (and as I mentioned yesterday, mostly a scam).

Most of the temporary aid “volunteer” industry is a scam to soak money from middle class and wealthy kids trying to pad their resumes, and the whole thing is incredibly insulting, especially to nations like Peru that have an advanced, developed infrastructure. Peru has large, industrialized cities, and an educated population. It’s really insulting to think that all they really need is some ignorant American do-gooders showing up to to “rescue” them. “Oh, thank you, American student! Before you showed up, we were totally unable to give vaccines and build houses for our own people! We’re very stupid!”

This is like a Millennial wet dream. “Hey! I’m an 18-year-old high school graduate, but due to my mad computer skills, I can walk into a huge medical complex with a professional I.T. staff and immediately be recognized as an indispensible genius!”

Same here! We have many pets, but my kids still like to stop by the pet store — especially the one that has puppies and ferrets and such out where you can pet them.

Miss Bliss is an extremely poor organizer if a little traffic and a bathroom break completely derails the trip.
