GA from 75 years ago today: https://www.copy.com/s/t%3AASIVsFyYGeFN3slA%3Bp%3A%252FArchive/G/Gasoline%20Alley/Gasoline%20Alley%20-%201940/ga400827.jpg%3Boid%3A571790

Are my opinions so terrible that you actually took the time to look up what I’ve posted in the past? I’ve been a reader of Gasoline Alley for over 50 years and I thoroughly enjoyed most of those years. I didn’t realize I was only allowed to praise the current focus of the strip.

Come on Jim! This is too much. Stop with the Rufus and Joel EVERY DAY. Let’s return to the stories about the Wallet family already. When did we last see a story about Walt, Chipper, Clovia, etc.? Instead it’s Rufus and Joel, Rufus and Joel. For the past 16 months, I’ve been posting on my Facebook timeline a copy of Gasoline Alley from 75 years earlier, to the day. From April 1940 to August 1941, we have Skeezix courting Nina, preparing for their senior prom, high school graduation, Skeezix and Gootch negotiating who gets their jointly-owned car, Skeezix hitching to another town to find a job, getting caught up in a counterfeiter’s scheme, finding a job, visiting home on vacation, and meeting Wilmer Bobble at his job. I’d rather read those 75-year old wonders than seeing Rufus and Joel all the time.

I fear the next time we see Uncle Walt, the supposed co-star of this strip, will be at his funeral. He hasn’t been featured in over one year and Skeezix, the other co-star, hasn’t been featured since December. And just guest appearances by Corky and Judy. And where are Chipper and Clovia?

Sorry. I didn’t realize that only my Facebook friends would be able to view the link. I have been posting GA strips on Facebook for over one year. They are the strips that appeared in newspapers exactly 75 years ago to the day. Most featured Skeezix as he graduated high school (last year) and hitched to another town to find work and be independent. During the current week, 75 years ago, he is vacationing back in Gasoline Alley and visiting with Uncle Walt, Auntie Blossom, Corky, Judy and, of course, Nina. It’s at this job that he meets Wilmer Bobble.

From 75 years ago today, the real star of GA: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155758067550231&set=a.119435020230.208433.549675230&type=1

I think I’ll be skipping GA until Jim brings back the Wallet family. I’ll just read the old strips from years ago.

And the Wallet family is now officially an afterthought in a comic that it headlined for over 90 years. Very sad.

Too much Rufus and Joel. Jim needs to get back to the characters who made this strip work for all these years, i.e., Skeezix and his family.
