    Calvin, you have no idea how good you have it.
    Elementary school, inner city Chicago, 1949: No kindergarten; first grade on first day. No school bus; you walk. No homework; everything was done in school. It wasn’t perfect; but, if you survived, you felt like you really accomplished something. After going to a Chicago elementary school for eight years, going into the U.S. Army was a piece-a-cake.

    Had my childhood filled with Moe’s. Ironically, half of them became the best Chicago cops money could buy. And the other half became crooked lawyers. Are there any other kind? Better them than me.

    Nicely stated! Unfortunately, an out-swing door allows access to the hinge pins. Easily defeated back in Calvin’s era. Only recent changes in security hinge design, provide welded pins and anti-lift options.

    I love the way Bill shows the impact of Hobbes’ tackles. Calvin always loses his shoes (10th panel).
