“Newspaper carrier”? What is this “newspaper carrier” of which you speak? (For that matter, what’s a “newspaper”?)

On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a dog. Everybody knows you’re an idiot, though. :-D

With Uber you don’t need to stand on a corner and hope a cab comes by (or wait for a dispatcher to answer the phone), you don’t need cash, and you don’t need to calculate a tip. You can see where the car is and when it’ll get to you, and the fare and the tip are charged to your credit card. When you get where you’re going, you say “Thank you” and get out of the car. When cab companies do all that, I’ll be happy to take a cab. And they could do all that; they just won’t, for whatever unfathomable reason. Cab companies, in fact, could set up the credit card account thing and let people choose to use that or to call/flag and pay cash — that would be perfect, and it might put Uber out of business.

Because you can whack them with your great big family Bible. :-) I had one years ago (a ganglion cyst, not a great big family Bible), and the doctor told me to whack it with a heavy book and explained about the great big family Bible.

There have been plenty of pirates off the coast of Somalia for the last 10 years, and although there are fewer successful pirate attacks, that’s still a dangerous area for anybody in any kind of boat. So in fact pirates are still vicious international criminals.
