Great work, commenters! I have a friend who is short and sensitive about it; would I stoop to bring the subject, er, down? Of course …….. maybe.

In my long-ago soccer playing days I knew a player who hated being short—but loved wearing #13—I don’t think that he has forgiven me to this day that I asked him, “if you don’t like being short, why do you wear uniform # 1/3rd?”

Rover’s skeptical one-eye-open glance in the first panel is priceless.

I do believe that the “thump, thump, thump” of a contented dog’s tail counts as canine purring.

OK, Glenn (or anybody), what’s the “10/6” tag in the hatband signify?

Thanks for the ONLY good comment about this cartoon. BTW, the cartoonist is Robert Mankoff, currently the cartoon editor for The New Yorker. The cartoon was published in 1993.
