    For the record, Mike and JJ marry during the 1983/84 hiatus; ie they are not married as the hiatus starts and are married by the time the strip resumes.

    Going back to @montessorteacher’s comment yesterday;

    a) I never quite worked out the difference in the way you celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas in the US? Being with the extended family and eating a turkey dinner is Christmas day in the UK; do you just do the same thing twice, a month apart…?

    b) guns, yes, well. The UK and the US are probably roughly as violent as each other (though statistics are hard to compare); if anything, the UK is probably slightly more violent in general. But the US has a murder rate of 4.7 per 100,000 of population, where the UK rate is 1. Total death rate (deliberate and accidental) for guns in the UK is one person per 100,0000 every four years, in the US it’s 10 a year per 100,000. No-one outside the US can understand why you are so fascinated by them.

    There’s never any point in replying to @rpmurray. She is a very clever troll, who only ever posts when she thinks she can say something that will really annoy other contributors, and never EVER then engages in conversation. As far as she is concerned, you reply, you lose…

    Result is expected to be announced about 6-7am Friday morning our time, so 2am EST assuming we haven’t got out of sync on daylight savings. Each local authority will announce separately, and by 4am our time all but a few will have announced, but Glasgow and Edinburgh, with a sizeable chunk of the electorate, are not expected to announce until nearer 6am.

    No by 53%:47% is my guess…
