    I think the point Zebo is trying to make is that an artist of any genre must be willing to throw away or radically change something that just doesn’t work…don’t get so stuck on what you just put down that you lose the ability to be objective about it and make a change if needed…up to and including completely trashing it stand starting over.

    Good example is Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” It was originally a country western tune (musically), but he couldn’t get it to work. Later on, he decided to try it in the form he eventually released, and it worked FAR better than the original idea.

    It’s happened to me…I’ve written stories that worked FAR better after I made major changes.

    An artist can’t let themselves be hemmed in.
