The shaded fellow with a hat and newspaper outside the Barber shop seems to be watching.

I’d guess whomever’s behind Belinda put clocks up everywhere so there was no chance someone would miss the show.

I’ve found the Archie TV Funnies usually get taken down fairly quickly on Youtube, I think they get flagged for copyright infringment. Which sucks since you can’t find them for sale from an official source. There are also old VHS tapes you can sometimes find on Amazon or Ebay with the shows.

Mumbles and Ghote worked together in a fake cloning scheme targetting Diet Smith, towards the end of the story Ghote pulled a gun on Mumbles to keep him from going violent and killing Dr. Will Carver, thus ruining his reputation with Diet. Mumbles beat him with a chair and left him behind, it seems he still holds a grudge.

Actually Diet is referring to a song from Dick Tracy in B Flat a radio show performed on stage for the armed forces in 1945 starring Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra. It’s a lot of fun to listen to actually with Bob Hope playing Flattop.

You’re right that age is something that is better avoided.

Actually, at the start of the strip in 1931 Tracy wasn’t yet a detective, although he was hired by Brandon pretty quickly after Emil Trueheart’s death. Gould made no mention of Tracy’s job at that time, although when Sam retold the story in 2011 Tracy was a patrolman first just before. (Sam’s story could be wrong, just what he had heard). I believe Gould also mentioned Tracy had served in the army at one point.

I’m itching to see a Tracy vs. Bardol fist fight.

I’m really happy Mike is recognizing the entire history of Dick Tracy as having existed and not excluding any one portion (as has been done with the Space Period and Collins era for a long time). I don’t like the insistence that Moon Maid must be real to keep the new fans. Keep writing good stories, keep us interested/surprised, and most of us will keep reading.
