@IamJayBluEI thought a Freudian slip was when you say one thing and mean your mother.

leagleagle48—I think that Jonah paints sets (almost certainly for free) in the low-budget theater productions he appears in. (Source: been there.)

Flash Gordon—I think the “powerhouse woman” Bern refers to is herself, not Prudence.

Nil offered Bernice a compliment on her scarf and then (unlike Jack) politely asked if he might join the girls. What’s creepy about that?

Why do I imagine Bernice saying that last line in Hermione Granger’s voice?

Once, years ago, in a moment of weakness, I took a homeless teenage kid with no family into my house. I told him he was welcome to stay as long as he went to school and stayed out of trouble. (He did.) Several months passed. On a certain Sunday in June, he handed me a small package without a word, and went away. There was a very nice necktie (from a charity shop) inside. I shut myself in my bedroom and cried for a half-hour.. Today he is 30 years old and has two college degrees. I expect i will get another necktie from the greatest son anyone ever had by accident.

I’ve never known quite what to make of Mr. Gray before now. I like him.

This was a most disappointing story arc from a strip that usually offers better. I feel like I spent a week in New York and saw nothing but a restaurant, a nightclub, and a tiny hotel room.
