    And yet – I got it so fast I was singing it as I read it, and I’ll bet my entire music-diverse family did the same.

    “all the world is a stage” or something like that. Aren’t we all just a bit of fiction (with occasional bouts of ’they should have got the other guy/girl?)

    NO. Wrong! Look at the finger grips. Try to imagine how you’d put your right thumb on that side, wrap your fingers around it and still use the grips. At which point, it needs to be used upside down (or while leaning over a fallen body) to have the finger grips pointed toward his tailbone.
